ANNE FERGUSON
MA, LAMFT
Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist
It is my passion to help people feel safe and secure. I believe many challenges people face in life connect to our need for secure attachment and come from attachment wounds from childhood and/or lack of secure attachments in adulthood. I believe positive relationships with friends, family, co-workers, and romantic partners are the key to a happy and fulfilling life. It is my privilege to work with you to help repair those wounds and move into secure attachment.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in human resources, event planning, was a stay-at-home mom, then I supported new parents through pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum time as a birth and postpartum doula for ten years, helping new parents give their babies a secure base in the world. The doula work inspired me to become a systemic therapist, finding a new way to help adults feel safe and secure. I have advanced training in and am especially passionate about using the attachment lens of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) with couples to strengthen relationships. Relationships are like gardens that need to be tended to fully thrive. I will guide you through the process of EFT and help you meet whatever goals bring you into therapy. I incorporate mindfulness into the therapy work.
As a white parent of mixed-race children, I am on the journey to becoming an ally and work with clients from all backgrounds. My two teenage sons inspire me to grow, heal, and make the world a better place. In my free time, I enjoy watching my boys play football and hockey, taking walks with friends, listening to podcasts, and seeing live theater or comedy. I am extroverted, organized, and love to do lists and being busy, but also value a relaxing night on the couch watching cooking shows or a movie with my kids. I use she/her pronouns and strive to be LGBTQ+ affirming.
My clinical focus is on sexuality and sexual concerns, affairs, addiction, blended families, couples seeking to improve their relationship and also couples who want to amicably end their relationship. I look forward to working with you.
I practice under Renee Segal, MA, LMFT's supervision.
