CAROLYN OUELLETTE

MA, LPCC

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor

It is my honor to walk beside people during the more difficult times in their lives and help them make sense of their stories. As a trained outside voice, I am here to help you when you get stuck and disconnected. I believe that we are not meant to do this life alone — the more support we have, the stronger we are. When we get help, it lightens the load. My primary clinical interests are working with trauma, working with relationship problems and working with military families. I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families at all life stages, from the beginning during the prenatal years, to the end of life, by helping with caregiver support. I am interested in helping people heal trauma’s impact on physical, emotional, relational and spiritual wellbeing. Doing couple and family therapy using the Emotionally Focused Therapy model makes sense to me, because it aligns with both my spiritual and worldview. I have extensive advanced training in it. I am passionate about working to heal couple relationships. I understand that disconnection from a loved one can hurt deeply, especially when you don’t know how to get back into sync. I like helping couples heal after betrayal, to uncover the blocks that separate them and to help them understand how their past is affecting them currently. Working with military families is another strong area of my clinical focus. I have worked with the Wounded Warrior Project leading groups and supporting families to help reduce mental health issues that can be the result of being in the military. Aside from being a therapist/counselor, I have been married for 20 years and I understand the joys and complexities of a long-term marriage. I homeschool two of my three children, all teens, and help my husband with his business. I love spending time with my family. We swim together, we bike, hike, canoe and enjoy outdoor climbing together. I also love listening to podcasts. I grew up in Canada and I immigrated to the United States when I was 17. My style is to come alongside people during difficult moments, so that people don’t feel so alone. My clients have told me that I push them “just enough” to make changes while being gentle and feeling deeply understood by me. This is my foundation.
